About me
I am Vaidya Shikha Prakash, an Ayurvedic Physician. Born in a family of Vaidyas in Meerut, I always had an inclination towards the ancient science of Ayurveda. My grandfather was a vaidya and my grandmother helped him in making medicines. My father is a vaidya and my mother is involved in preparation of Ayurvedic medicines. I grew up seeing my father treating patients in his clinic and rendering them free from their ailments. I knew when I was in class 1 that this is exactly what I would like to do once I grew up! I always wanted to be a Vaidya and here I am today.
I am based in Dehradun and have been treating patients for eight years now. I work as an Ayurvedic Consultant at Padaav Speciality Ayurvedic Treatment Centre, Dehradun and a visiting consultant at AMRI Hospital, Kolkata. I also write health blogs for Telegraph, Kolkata and few others. Also, I am heading the FLO Uttarakhand Health Initiative for the last one year. I am a firm believer of the traditional concept of aahar, vihaar and aushadh for the elimination of diseases. Almost every disease is a result of an imbalanced diet and lifestyle and most can be cured once the basics are fixed. I deal with diseases like migraine, pancreatitis, allergic rhintis, childhood asthma, PCOD, liver disorders, diabetes, obesity and other inflammatory and metabolic disorders.
A heath freak myself, I am obsessed with healthy eating and living and never miss my work outs. When not busy with my patients, I can be found exploring sustainable living and healthy eating options.
