Anthony Cortez, RN (Registered Nurse), BSN, Ayurvedic Practitioner, Holistic Nurse, Transformational Coach
Anthony is a registered nurse with 12 years of service to the University of Florida (UF) Health Shands academic medical center, working in critical care/intensive care for 4.5 years, bone marrow transplant oncology for 1.5 years, and home care nursing for 6 years. He has worked with virtually every patient population and medical/surgical service at UF Health, earning numerous awards for excellent patient care, and brings a wealth of knowledge about people's health challenges and their journey to wellness. He is a graduate of the University of Florida (Bachelor of Arts- Communication Sciences and Disorders), the University of South Florida (Bachelor of Science- Nursing), and has additional training as a holistic nurse and nurse coach at the graduate level through Florida Atlantic University (under Dr. Susan Dyess, holistic nursing program director, and Dr. Deborah McElligot, nurse coach program director). As part of the holistic nursing program, Anthony completed a 6-month internship at the Ayurveda Health Retreat just north of Gainesville, FL with Ayurvedic Practitioner Richard Masla. After realizing the power and effectiveness of this ancient healing system he enrolled in New World Ayurveda's Ayurvedic Health Practitioner program, studying directly with academic dean Paul Dugliss, MD, graduating as an Ayurvedic Practitioner. In addition, he is certified in Reiki healing at the 1st degree level in the Mikao Usui system and has also served as a meditation instructor at the University of Florida Center for Mindfulness as well as the University of Florida College of Medicine. Anthony is currently studying with Brian Whetten, PhD., for further refinement of master transformational coaching skills, and conscious ethical business practice rooted in higher values. Anthony has been a close student of world-renowned spiritual teacher Michael Singer (author of the New York Times best-selling books "The Untethered Soul- and "The Surrender Experiment-) for 15 years, living out by his spiritual center "Temple of the Universe- up to this day, where he has committed his life to spiritual growth and the service of others.
